Screed Over Insulation

Screed over insulation is the most common way of installing wet underfloor heating systems, both traditional sand and cement or liquid flowing screeds can be used.  It is mainly used on new builds, extensions and renovations.

This method means that the screed you lay will not sit directly on the structural base, but instead on top of a layer of installation with the underfloor heating pipes underneath.

Benefits from this method:

  • Quick and easy installation using our multilayer UFH pipe.
  • Offers the highest heat outputs
  • Most new builds/Extension already utilise this method so no additional costing in construction.
  • Can use almost any floor finish.

  2. Foil backed Insulation layer to Current Regulations
  3. 500-gauge Polythene layer with Perimeter insulation lapped and taped. (Recommended for all screed types)
  4. UFH Pipes clipped directly to the Insulation layer
  5. Screed over covering the Pipes (sand & cement 65mm min or Flowing Screeds 50mm minimum)
  6. Finished floor over
